Re: Best wolf/werewolf books you've read?

I enjoy the How to Be a Werewolf webcomic. It's more about people than werewolves per se, but there are lots of werewolves!

Re: Wildest Dreams: Chapter 2

I want to bring attention to this thread created by @Skor. They are wondering if anyone knows the name of the artist who created the thumbnail art in the Wildest Dreams videos?

Re: "Wildest Dreams" Wolfquest Concept Art creator?

I think pinging/@ or emailing the developers would be the most efficient, as 2006 predates the vast majority of people on the forums including those of us still checking in. I don't know who drew it personally! This next part is just my opinion: say you find out who drew it but can't connect with t...

Re: What wildlife have you seen recently?

I went somewhere and saw two black-crowned night herons. I thought the first one was fake 'cause it was completely still, but it moved its head. I think it was trying to ambush prey. I never saw them before, so that's cool I just Googled that bird as I didn't know what it was. They look very differ...

RE: Canine Writing Subforum

Since the thread was unexpectedly locked, I have to respond here instead. The tones of the replies to my comment asking for specific examples of other online places to post canine writings came across to me as defensive and in Koa's instance, also condescending. As such, I feel the tone of my own c...

there were other sites (and still are sites) better suited for this.
Care to share any examples?

Re: Canine Writing subforum?

I can speak to a decent part of the history of the forum in this regard, as I was a big pusher for more creative freedom in the writing and the art boards. It was one of my biggest sticking points actually! Historically it always came down to the Team's prioritization of the WolfQuest project's ove...

Re: What age do female wolf stop having pups?

Because wolves have estrous cycles and not menstrual cycles , they can hypothetically breed and have pups at any age after sexual maturity. But what's seen in reality is a gradual decline in litter size after 4 - 5 years of age . This decline coincides with when wolves reach their peak body mass, w...

Re: Wolf Packs

You might be better off linking to a book Rustic. Books can summarize the findings of many research papers in a succinct way. One that is often referenced here is Wolves: Behaviour, Ecology, and Conservation. Tell them to jump right to Chapter 1 - Wolf Social Ecology, which is freely accessible in ...

Re: Favorite Wolf Exhibit

Roguemoon, you probably won't see this since your last login was in 2020 but oh well . Others can enjoy the content. I got to attend the Calgary Zoo last week. The wolf exhibit has three wolves now; I wonder if any are the same as you saw five years ago. It was my first time, so not sure who w...

Re: Why are the forums so inactive?

I agree, I find it hard to "pop in" in the Discord with something new since it's a few thread-equivalents for all conversations. Smaller servers with less people have a forum-like feeling though.

I agree cherie, the facial rendering is really good.

I just noticed some, particularly the lighter-colored individuals, got the blue eye treatment :P.

The Great Wolf Lodge Advertisement Wolves

The wonders of the Facebook algorithm introduced me to the Great Wolf Lodge's latest advertisements, featuring oversized wolf characters that take families to the waterparks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrIZfqoqP3M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOH57hlthrk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALKD...

Re: What is your top five favorite animals?

A fun question! In no particular order: 1. Wolf (no notes) 2. Dog (so many phenotypes!) 3. Cheetah (I am speed, very specialized, interesting ongoing conservation efforts) 4. Pike species (cool-looking fish, encounter them at work) 5. Turtles :turtle: (Cute when smol but also dangerous when of the ...
