FAQs about the Tower Fall expansion

Postby loboLoco » Sun Feb 05, 2017 1:52 pm

What will be in the new episode?

In the first weeks of June, the pups frolic at the rendezvous site in Slough Creek while their parents bring them their first meals of fresh elk meat. When the elk herds move down into the Lamar Valley, the pack follows — only to find other packs have already established territories in the valley. So they journey further south, up and over Specimen Ridge, then down into the valley of the Yellowstone River. There, on the banks of the Yellowstone, with Tower Fall thundering nearby, the pack makes a new home amidst fellow predators and plentiful prey. Here the pack will stake out a new territory, protect their family from danger, and and raise a new generation of skilled hunters.

Tower Fall will continue the story of your pack and pups, picking up about a month after Slough Creek level ends:
* The pups continue to grow — and so do their appetites.
* Fortunately there are elk and moose calves, and mule deer fawn, around, which make easier hunting for clever wolves.
* As the summer progresses, those pups will grow big enough to join in the hunting trips.
* Rival wolf packs may try to kill your pups and even take over your territory — unless you’re strong and skillful enough to fight them off.

Will it have multiplayer?

The entire Tower Fall mission arc will be playable in both single- and multiplayer (just like Slough Creek - Raise Pups).

What new animals will be included? Will you be updating the wolf model?

Mule deer will be found roaming the map in Tower Fall. Elk and moose will have calves. And yes, we've rebuilt and improved the wolf model.

Will I have to pay to get it?

Yes. Tower Fall will be quite a large expansion of the game, and so we need to charge for it. Currently we imagine the cost will be perhaps $6-$8 though the final cost will be based on the scope and depth of the episode.

Why can't it be free?

We're putting a great deal of work into Tower Fall: creating an entirely new codebase for more exciting and robust gameplay, creating new animals, new missions, and new multiplayer modes. The money to pay the artists, designers, and software developers has to come from somewhere. We've been gratified by players' willingness to pay for WQ 2.7 and believe that the new episode will be well worth the cost.

Will any new stuff from Tower Fall be added to the existing game?

Definitely. We will be adding many improvements, such as mule deer and the new wolf model (with customizable eye color and new actions like drinking), to the existing game, which will be released as a free update later this year.

Will it be available for mobile phones and tablets?

Yes...at least some of them, and/or in some form. Tower Fall will have a larger map and more animals, which may be too much for mobile devices with limited RAM memory. It's been difficult to get the current game to run reliably on some devices which have only 1 GB of RAM memory, and we are not sure that this new episode will run on those devices. We'll do our best, but there's a good chance that some mobile devices won't be able to get it, and/or we will have a simpler version of it for some mobile devices.

When will it be released?

When it's done :)

If you've been following WolfQuest for awhile, you know how bad we are at estimating release dates, so for the time being, we're not going to make any public estimates. But we do hope to release it in early 2018.

Will Tim Buzza create the soundtrack?

Yes! He's excited about the prospect -- and so are we.
